Sunrise Alarm  Clock  (SAD Light/ Day light)

Winter blues are a fact of life for millions of people in Britain, especially during those dark, dank months between November and February.

If the cold months get you down and you long for summertime, it might not be heat you are yearning for, but light.

Lack of daylight can result in overeating, depression and loss of energy. In its extreme form it's even got a name - Sad or Seasonal Affective Disorder

The only cure is a regular dose of strong artificial daylight.

Recently Recognised

Scientists say that it's the short days and long nights of winter that create a biochemical imbalance in the part of the brain that regulates many body functions, including sleep, moods and energy levels.

"Light is vital to our well-being. As the days get shorter the body's clock can go out of sync with its rhythm of day and night.

"This can result in very depressing symptoms," says Professor Chris Thompson, head of the mental health group at the Royal South Hants Hospital in Southampton.

It is comparatively recently that Sad has been recognised as a medical condition. Before that sufferers were told to pull themselves together.

Now research has shown that high levels of light in the early part of the day offers benefits to sufferers.

"It is a miracle. After a month you feel fighting fit whatever the weather," said one user.

The sunrise alarm clock is powered by bright LED bulbs, which simulates natural sunlight for making up insufficient levels of daylight, especially in the winter. Ordinary light fittings used at home or the office are not strong enough with only 200-500 lux. The LED bulbs used on the sunrise alarm clock emit a light intensity of about 6000 lux. Light therapy can be administrated for 15 to 60 minutes daily for at least 7 consecutive days or longer if required. Normal activities such as reading, writing, eating etc can be carried out while stationary in front of the light therapy.

The light intensity of the Sunrise Alarm  Clock  increases gradually and naturally like a sunrise 15 or 30 minutes prior to your preset alarm time. The light triggers the wake up process of your body naturally, which gives you a far more refreshed and energetic waking up feeling. It uses 72 bright LED light bulbs to simulate natural sunlight. It is particularly useful for those who are affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as Winter Blues/Winter Depression, as this is caused by the lessening of sunlight, especially in the winter.

For the best result, you are suggested to place the sunrise alarm clock on the bedside table close to your pillow.
